P013 Continuous Positive Airways Pressure (CPAP) Adherence in Remote Patients using Telemedicine Model of Care

چکیده

Abstract Background CPAP is an established first-line treatment for moderate-to-severe OSA. Adherence universally low and predicted by short-term adherence. Moderate-to-severe OSA strongly associated with adverse cardiovascular outcomes. Evidence of benefit limited to underpowered subgroups arbitrarily defined "good adherence". Covid-19 has generated widespread acceptance uptake telemedicine. This study aims determine if adherence affected when health service provided telemedicine rather than in-person. Methods Single-centre, retrospective, cohort patients identified between 1/6/21 30/6/22. Medical records were reviewed residential address, referral pathway (face-to-face or telemedicine), age, gender, BMI, ESS, AHI AI. Short-term was determined from downloads. Progress date 368 identified, 40% had 31.5% (64% remote, 36% local). Compared in-person, remote similar age (age ≥ 50, 64.9% vs 53.2%, p= 0.075) but more likely male (66.2% 50%, 0.014). ESS (9.7 ± 1.4 9.1 0.7, 0.38), BMI (36.1 2.5 33.5 1.3, 0.08), (27.5 7.5 21.7 3.4, 0.12) presence (48.6% 42.5%, 0.35) similar. Patient including local, face-to-face reviews analysed. data pending. Intended outcome impact Pilot programs (e.g. TeleSleep) are developing services designed provide accessible efficient care patients. $800 per patient, environmental transport savings can be anticipated.

Can telemedicine improve CPAP adherence?

Obstructive sleep apnoea (OSA) is a common, important disease associated with daytime sleepiness and a reduced quality of life. Moreover, untreated OSA is associated with increased healthcare utilisation and a significantly increased risk of motor vehicle crashes, hypertension, coronary artery disease and stroke. Treatment of patients with continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) improves qua...

Role of Spousal Involvement in Continuous Positive Airway Pressure (cpap) Adherence in Patients with Obstructive Sleep Apnea (osa).

INTRODUCTION Little is known about the impact of spousal involvement on continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) adherence. The aim of this study was to determine whether spouse involvement affects adherence with CPAP therapy, and how this association varies with gender. METHODS 194 subjects recruited from Apnea Positive Pressure Long Term Efficacy Study (APPLES) completed the Dyadic Adjust...

Predictors of continuous positive airway pressure adherence

Continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) is the leading treatment for obstructive sleep apnoea (OSA), a prevalent disorder of breathing in sleep strongly associated with obesity. OSA has serious adverse health, social and community effects arising from disturbed breathing, loud snoring, poor quality sleep and cardiovascular sequelae. When used appropriately, CPAP treatment is highly effective...

A telemedicine intervention to improve adherence to continuous positive airway pressure: a randomised controlled trial.

BACKGROUND Continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) is the most widely prescribed treatment for obstructive sleep apnoea syndrome (OSAS). Although it has been shown to improve the symptoms of OSAS, many patients have difficulty adhering to this treatment. The purpose of this study was to investigate the effectiveness of an automated telemedicine intervention to improve adherence to CPAP. ME...
